Wrightsville!

BEACH DAY!!!!!!!!

What a great day it has been.  Grace and I have been desperately trying to find a time for all of our families to go to the ocean and spend a day on the beach.  Sadly, orchestrating all of our schedules has become a bit of a nightmare and with our moves quickly approaching, we decided it was now or never.  So, with Bob and Sebron out of town, Grace and I decided that there was no better way to spend a Saturday than taking our little kidlets to the ocean.  We thought we might be a little crazy trying to get babies and all of their paraphernalia on and off the beach, but we knew it would be worth it.

We pulled into Wrightsville, NC this morning and found an on-the-beach parking spot, which is next to impossible on most days.  After setting up our towels we pulled out our sand toys and headed down to the surf. The kids were a little concerned at first especially because the undertow was pretty strong and the waves came up the beach with enough force to knock a wobbly toddler right over.  After a few minutes of validation and Grace and I smiling and giggling they got into it and started collecting sea shells and digging.

ESCAPEES! They were on a mission to the water!

For lunch we got the double jogger out and headed to the pier.  In case the double wasn't hard enough to push, imagine pushing it through sand.  WOW.
There were a couple of times where Grace and I were both bent over pushing the jogger and drawing LOTS of attention from fascinated beach goers.  We must have been a treat to watch.

This is Lily's attempt at sunbathing with me.  She hated the sun in her face!

After lunch, the sun really started shining and we decided to brave the ocean and waves.  Lily kept trying to drink salt water and surprising herself with how wretched it was.  We even had an almost run in with a jellyfish.  Yikes.  Grace spotted it heading towards me.  I managed to get Lily and me out of its way, but not without nearly submerging my little one in an effort to flee the danger zone. Whew!

By 2:30 the kids were slowly melting down and Grace and I were thoroughly cooked.  We slathered ourselves all day, but we as Mom's never take enough time to really keep applying. Surprisingly we made it out just a little pink.........except the tops of our feet.  There is no sugar coating how badly we burned them.  Oops.

Totally worth it for a day at the beach!

Oh and in case you ever wanted to know, this is what exhausted looks like.
