Take me to the Wato

Our move is coming closer and closer.  The reality that we will only be in North Carolina for another 12 days or so has set in and so we have been trying to conquer everything on our NC bucket list before we go.
Since Bob has yet to get out to the ocean, we decided we needed to make the trip back to Wrightsville for the day.  We could not have picked a better day for the beach.

The trick to getting a great parking spot is to get to the beach early.  Once we arrived we thought it would be a blast to go for a run on the empty morning beach.

There are two piers out in Wrightsvile that are about 1.5 miles apart, so we started at one, ran to the other and then ran back.  Shoeless, shirtless and completely carefree.  It was wonderful.  I love that we are a family that likes to run together. After getting some refreshing exercise, we found a great little location, stuck our umbrella in the sand and sat down to relax in the sun.  Of course the concept of relaxing is lost on Lily and she spent the entire morning moving, running and sanding around.  SO. MUCH. SAND.

It was so precious to watch her and Bob have some time together digging holes and collecting seashells.  She is still a little leery of the water so whenever a wave would come in she would anxiously find her Daddy's lap.

Later in the afternoon she had a blast crawling in and out of the big hole that Bob dug for her.  She loved it and would climb in, let us cover her with sand and then want Uppie so that she could do it all over.

Being at the beach and realizing that we are leaving it for the mountains made the time that much more special.  I am glad that Lily can have the beach experience, but am simply overjoyed that she will grow up with the mountains.
