Summer Days!

Bob and I got back from Cary and the next day we headed over to Justin's house to spend a wonderful afternoon with a bunch of our buddies celebrating Justin and Caleb's birthday. We had such a great time and I got to wear this super cute maternity bathing suite. At 24 weeks everyone still says that I look so small. I think I am getting big. Guess it is all in perspective. The doctor says that I am right on track and Lily is moving and grooving. Bob and I love feeling her move and she is starting to be so responsive! Can't wait to meet her.

Well back to the party. Justin opened his new home and his awesome pool to everyone and we had Scott and Holly Wertel with their two kiddos, The Fields, Traci, Justin, The Olsens and Bob and I. Justin grilled and we had plenty of chips and salsa including plenty of Whiskey, Rum and summer liquor. Don't worry Lily and I had water and it was good!

The pool was so warm. I always forget that Summer's in Arizona can make an inviting pool feel like a warm bath. With this little bun in the oven I am always so warm, so the AC in the house was way more inviting than the pool. Josiah was adorable and was tossed from person to person. What a swimmer! He is a fish and fearless. Good Luck Anna and Caleb!

Later we had dessert! OOOOO, dessert. Now that I am feeling better, I am finally enjoying sweet things again.

Traci made this awesome Chocolate eclair cake and Joan made fruit pizza. Both were great! Justin and Caleb blew out their candles and then cheered with a glass of fancy Makers Mark Whiskey.

I think that Justin is the spokesman for Makers Mark as he has towels, cigars, bottle toppers, and I think he might even have a pillow. So as a result of his patronage he got this fancy bottle of new whiskey and he and Caleb gave it a shot. I heard it was good stuff!

What a great way to spend some of our last days with our buddies.

A Mountain Shower

Bob and I were blessed to have a wonderful baby shower while we were visiting my parents up in Colorado. I love the mountains and could not wait for the day. Mom pulled out the wedding invite list and the shower invites grew and grew. I thought it was wonderful because we got to catch up with so many old faces and friends.

My awesome grandma and mom cooked and cooked and cooked. They made over 75 pounds of beef brisket, homemade potato salad (Grandma's finest), homemade coleslaw (yummy), brownies (like from the flour and cocoa ingredients), caramel brownies (yeah they are as good as they sound with 2 sticks of butter and enough sugar to cause a coma) and chocolate chip pecan cookies. I contributed the fabulous "magic dip" for the chips (it consisted of velveta, salsa and chili, not really homemade but always a crowd pleaser!). It was spectacular. My dad cleaned out one of our garages and we opened the doors, set up the buffet and partied!

One of the highlights of the party was the chocolate fountain. My Aunt Jayne was in charge of the fountain and she got pink chocolate (Grandma thought it looked like pepto. I guess it does a bit, but it tasted way better)! It was so much fun. She made these awesome fruit skewers with strawberries, pineapples and brownie bites. Then she added shortbread cookies and pretzels to the mix. Needless to say it was definitely the hit of the party. Luke Newton was in heaven!

After a couple hours of meeting greeting and catching up with friends we opened the gifts. Bob and I took turns and had such a blast. Lily got her first mini skirt! BJ and Lynn gave the little outfit to us and I could not stop giggling. It was so cute. Next came the tiny little newborn shoes.

Bob and I could not believe how little they were. They will probably not stay on her little feet, but I am sure going to try!

Monet Demuth made this beautiful crocheted blanket with ribbons running around the edges and we opened so many cute onsies.

My family all went together on our jogger. The best part was the card that my Aunt Jayne got for Bob. It looked like an IPOD advertisement with a baby on it.

The front said IPOOD and the inside said "Its a whole new kind of download." Bob laughed and laughed. My Aunt can pick out the cards.

As the party was winding down, my cousin Jessie pulled out her slack line and Bob, Derek and Ryan all had a go. It was entertaining to watch all of them attempt to make it across. After a while they got bored and started slingshotting shoes across the yard. Very entertaining!

The day was wonderful and such a blessing for Me, Bob and Lily. We even had a whole canine section to the party.
