While growing up I used to love to listen to Mary Rice Hopkins. She was a musician that had a host of awesome kid friendly God based songs. I just loved her and one of her songs went something like this, "It is good, It is good, It is good to give thanks to the Lord. It is good, It is good, It is good to give thanks to the Lord!" Of course she went on to thank the Lord for parents, breakfast, toys, school, and her meat potatoes and beans, but I it is one of those songs that will forever be permanently etched in my mind as a reminder to be grateful.
We have so very much to be thankful for.
Life tends to ebb and flow with blessings. There are seasons of great bounty and other seasons of seeming drought. We are most definitely in that special season of plenty. My cup is definitely running over and I am working to soak it all in and not just be overwhelmed by the overflowingness of my cup!
Every day that I look across the landscape and see my beautiful Rocky Mountains I cannot but be brought to the feet of Jesus. He is so magnificent, so glorious, so BIG. Nothing is impossible for Him and I just have to simply smile sometimes when there is nothing else to do but bask in His Majesty. He has blessed our little state with so much Spring water lately. It has made everything green and simply beautiful. It echos our life right now and it is simply alive with new life. It is getting into the 80's down here in the city, but you can still see snow up there on those mountains. That is what I love about this place we once again call home.
I have said it before and will say it again, I experience God in nature. There is something so simply connecting about being part of the natural tapestry. It's like being in love with a painting and then finding yourself immersed in its story, colors and life. Its a real connection with the artist and in nature I connect to its Creator. I find thankfulness naturally pouring out of my heart.
Thank you Lord for my husband. He is your Best for me and I am utterly overwhelmed at the gift I have in him.
Thank you Lord for my babies. You have taken impossible odds and made them two beautiful girls, I am in awe.
Thank you for my family. Sure we all have some quirks and are rough around the edges, but we love each other a lot, and will always be there for each other. That is amazing.
Thank you for the things in my life. You promise to take care of us as you would a lovely flower. You have given me more than most, I know it, I am humbled. Keep my heart in the right place. Help me remember that you give to us so we can give to others. Help me also remember that things don't ultimately matter or last, people do. Thank you for people.
Thank you for friends. They are powerful tools in my life and I know they come from you. Thank you for giving me good ones. I wouldn't trade one of them.
Thank you for You. Life is beautiful, but only because You are in it. Without you it would be gray, lonely, without hope and painful. Thank you for being my Lamp and my Light.
Oh Lord You are good and your mercies endure forever! My heart rejoices to remember, "It is Good to Give Thanks to the Lord!"
