The Dowlings Come to Town

Several years ago Bob, Me, Darcie, and Brent all made promise to spend at least a week together with each other every year.  Even though we literally live across the country from one another, we have made these reunions happen every year and I love that our kids know and love each other.  Cousins are the best!

Most of our vacations occur on a beach somewhere, but it was so much fun to have the Dowlings come out to our desert this year for their spring break!

The kids instantly buddied up with each other and it was like no time had passed.  Evie and Jess are inseperable and insist on wearing each other's clothes and forcing all of us to refer to them by the other's name.  (yes it is that confusing).  Lily and Nate are fast buds and will talk about anything and everything, and then there is Zach who is the most carefree kid of the bunch and just happy to be right in the middle of whatever we are doing.

Their first day here we took them out to the Heart Rock on the TRW trail system.  Aside from a few trips (its rocky out here) and the fact that the sun shines all day all the time, we all had a blast!

We took the whole family (including Aunt Sue, Uncle Bill, Michael, and Aunt Linda) to the Wildlife World Zoo the next day.  We love this zoo because the animals are all really close.

Feeding and petting the giraffes was probably the highlight of the day.  I mean these amazing creatures are literally right at eye height and ready to receive pets and food....and probably whatever else you wanted to offer.

We all took in the sea lion show and then spent the rest of the afternoon riding all of the rides!!

The Soaring Eagle Zipline was my favorite and the kids absolutely loved it!

It is so rare that all of this family is together so it was so much fun to be able to capture this picture and spend the day.

For their last full day here we took everyone down the Salt River.  We LOVE doing this activity and are always so excited when the season starts.  With 3 stand up paddleboards and 2 kayaks full of all of us we headed down river and just had a fantastic day.

No, the water was not warm, but seriously......its Arizona so we taught all of the kids how be be like a lizard and hug a rock.  We jumped, and jumped, and jumped again!

Later that night we tried out the new Food Truck Park by our house and had a blast connecting with everyone and enjoying some great food!  We all decided that 5 days just wasn't enough so we are currently planning another trip this Summer.

Take the trip, do the thing....and be sure to take the picture!
