Is it really already March 13th? Heavens, the month is almost over. Lily is climbing up a storm these days and we simply cannot keep her off of anything that she deems climbable.
We are just waiting for the day when she has the BIG CRASH. You know, something in line with the monkeys jumping on the bed. Sooner or later those monkeys are going to fall off and bump their heads, and no matter how much you warn and watch, the inevitable is bound to happen.
Her ambition really knows no bounds at this point in time and we are finding her climbing really anything that she can get a grip on. Her favorite thing is of course the big chair in our living room.
It is perfect for climbing because she can use the ottoman. There are many times however, that she pushes the ottoman too far away and ends up extended between the two with nowhere to go but scream for Mom to help. Pretty cute.
Watching her is simply amazing too. There is NO fear, none, nada, not existent. She sees all of the benefits of climbing and getting higher without considering all of the risks of falling and being set back. It makes me love her ambition and see so clearly how determined she is.
To be truthful, what a bummer it is that she has to learn about falling. It makes me wonder how you parent your child into a place of healthy fear and respect for falling while keeping the love of climbing alive. This really applies to anything in her life, but for now, my application revolves around my dishwasher.
For now, I just love seeing the smile of accomplishment as she scales the heights around our house.
