Alaska: Skagway

We woke up on day 3 in the Skagway port.  Such an incredible thing to wake up in a new place surrounded by beautiful snow capped mountains.

Skagway port required that we be transported off the boat using the life boats.  It was fascinating to ride in one and see 1. how big they are, and 2. how bomb proof they are.  I mean I hope I would never have to use one in a hurry, but they would definitely have made Titanic a different story (poor joke, but so true).

Memaw, Lily and I beat everyone off the boat and headed into the quaint little town.

Skagway was the base for the historical goldminers to head into the Klondike area during the gold rush.

The White Pass Mountain Railroad takes you all they way up the mountain that the goldminers would have walked carrying pounds and pounds of supplies.

The railway did not disappoint and the views during the 2.5 hour ride were absolutely amazing.

Evie had the most expensive nap she's ever had.....but I digress.

That ravine above is the original path of the trail for the gold miners.  They would have walked the entire way up this pass all in the hopes of hitting gold big time.

Through tunnels and over bridges we went traversing the pass and finding ourselves at the top traveling through FEET of snow.

The railway tour was the best.  I loved it so much because we saw so much of Skagway.  Evie added to her husky team collection, and we all made it back onto the boat.

We got to meet some husky pups on board and Evie and her Daddy played freezing cold pickleball on top deck.

What a life!
