Lily's Cowgirl Ranch Birthday

My girls LOVE their birthdays.  I mean seriously who doesn't, but every year each of my girls cannot wait for their birthday month and spend all year planning it.  Even before COVID, we have been working to teach our girls about the magic of experience over the abundance of toys.  Birthday parties are amazing, but inevitably someone or someones always get left out and a year after the torrent of presents gets opened you can't even remember what you got.  So, in that spirit we have really been trying to teach our girls about the power of a memory.  This year Lily really wanted to have a special weekend complete with sleep overs, horses, and shopping.  Her best buddy Erienne was the companion of choice and Lily could not wait to get up to Memaw's house!

I am eternally grateful to Memaw for being willing to take these girls (Melissa and I hailed a hotel) and shower shopping, riding, and adventure on them.  What a weekend they had.

We drove them up and dropped them off late one Friday before Thanksgiving.  The girls couldn't get Melissa and I out of the house fast enough!  The next morning, Memaw took the girls to Boot Barn and Lily (having gotten $100 for her birthday) proceeded to give half of it to Erienne so that they could both get a fabulous new Cowgirl ranch outfit.  I mean seriously, how adorable are these two?

Upon finishing their shopping spree they then went on a very adventurous trail ride!  Lily and Nightwing kept building their relationship, and Erienne got cozy with her buddy RJ.  They even had to navigate a dog attack complete with Lily getting bitten!  Never a dull moment out on the trail.  I love that these girls are tough and learning to navigate unplanned situations.  Of course, with Memaw around, you can't help but handle your stuff.  Even after that excitement, the girls got back up on their steeds and finished their ride.

I say it often on this site, but friendship is such a gift.  It starts in the memories we make as children, the sleep overs, the little actions that make us giggle, the experiences we have.  All of it builds and shapes us and I am just really happy that Lily and Erienne got to be together for this birthday.

Riding and having adventures is the best gift I could give to Lily this year and I am so glad that her Cowgirl Ranch party was a raging success!
