Holy Guacamole, our summer is off to a BIG BANG start and we haven't stopped moving yet. I am currently sitting in CA and between doing some work am typing this. We Longmires go, HARD. But that's just how we like it and so far it hasn't dropped us yet so we go and do!
The day school let out, the 4 of us hopped in our Prius with our pup and headed to the mountains for some vacay time with Memaw and Papa.
After a morning of being barn hands and getting thoroughly covered in that good ole ranch grime, we showered off and headed into town for dinner and a movie. Bob and I discovered The House restaurant a while back and we love it. Great food and even better atmosphere. The temperatures up there were perfect and we sat outside, listening to live music, and enjoying the hammock chairs.
Then we all went to go and see Aladdin! What a fantastic movie. I think the general consensus amongst us was Wish GRANTED. It was a blast! Bob and I were a tad worried about Will Smith as the Genie, but by golly, he did it, and all of us have been singing the songs on repeat since.
The next couple of days were spent working and playing. Man both of my girls are becoming quite the consummate horseback riders much to Memaw's delight. It really is fun watching them become good at something like riding horses and they truly have a talent. Lily loves to trot and is determined to become a horsewoman while Evie just relies on her balls and balance to hang on to whatever Lily does because you know........sisters.
Sweet Bon Bon is perfect for the little girl who has no fear and I am so grateful that the little old lady tolerates her. They are both fast becoming accomplished riders.
We watched movies, drank coffee, ate ice cream every night, visited the aquatics center, and enjoyed our family time.
Bob, Evie, and I left Lily and Ellie after a few days to quickly make the turnaround for our trip to Florida, and Lily got to stay with Memaw and Papa.....
She is incredible and got to spend the next week riding her little heart out. Lily even got to learn to ride Memaw's new horse, Nightwing. In a week the kid can now catch, brush, saddle (with some help) and bridle her very own horse. She is a fabulous trailrider and hangs with all of the horsewomen that Mom knows on their 2 hour trail rides.
Memaw had to work one day and so Papa took Miss Lily to the Woodland Lake for some fishing! They had a grand ole time. According to Lily when they first arrived they didn't catch anything, then a gentleman came by and gave them all the secrets. A special hook and special bait and BAM Lily caught a posse!
She even managed to stomach helping Papa with the cleaning procedures too! General consensus. "That was disgusting Mom!"
One thing is true, my girls can do big things and Lily loved every minute. Memaw even splurged and got Lily all decked out in the western wear complete with blinged out belt. Such a fun time for Lily and such a special time for Memaw and Papa to have with her.
She and Ellie had a fantastic time while the 3 of us were off on the other side of the country.
