Our final day in the beauty of Costa Rica we spent exploring the Manuel Antonio National Park. It is like stepping into a rainforest with slightly more manicured paths. The beauty is everywhere.
We were so grateful to connect with Elias who organized all of our excursions for the week. His knowledge of the area is amazing and he was so kind to answer all of our questions. The kids loved him and by the time our trip was over we were sure hoping to take him with us. So grateful for such a great guide.
The best part about having Elias is that he was able to spot all of the wild life in the area for us and get us up close and personal with his telescope.
Lily and I, of course continued with our mother daughter yoga travel postures. Its so much fun to handstand in all the places. So grateful I have worked so hard on that skill.
The National Park beaches are pristine and the beauty of visiting the park is that you have access to them. The rain was rolling in, but we took every chance we got to swim, play, and catch sight of some local monkeys and iguanas!
When the rain almost washed us out of the park, we called it, headed back for some lunch and then spent the afternoon in the pool, getting massages, and enjoying our time together.
Our last night we went to El Avion which is an amazing tourist spot that was worth every second. The restaurant is built in, around, and on top of a full cargo plane with history during the IRAN CONTRA era. I wish I could remember in detail the story but I spent most of the time just looking around and enjoying the amazing views.
Even the dumb waiter was an old airplane!
Evie and Dad rolled into the restaurant late because they wanted to have one more daddy daughter date on the beach.
Our waiter was amazing and made us a cricket and a fish from palm leaves. We drank wine, ate great food, enjoyed monkeys desperately trying to find a seat at the table, and watched the sunset.
The entire cargo hold of the airplane was a bar and we were able to sit up in the cockpit. Another fun thing is that the entire hull was covered in names and notes. One of the workers said that they stopped allowing people to write all over because there were just too many requests. Bob played the "my father in law was a pilot and flew in Vietnam" and got a hold of a sharpie which I secretly found a spot to write his name on right next to the Captain's chair. Pretty Cool.
This sweet local artisan was selling custom made while you eat dinner and we girls could not resist a purchase. Lily bought a beautiful arm bracelet, I got earrings made from tires, and Evie got a butterfly necklace.
