Baby Mama Drama

Boy did we have an interesting Tuesday! Mom and Baby had their second visit to the doctor and it was supposed to be a routine visit. Bob even ended up not coming because he had a conference call. I told him it was no big deal and I didn't mind going by myself.

I headed to the doctors and got all checked out. Right before I was done the doctor asked if I wanted to hear the baby's heartbeat. I was thrilled! She whipped out her little doppler doohicky and started searching. She told me that sometimes it takes a couple of minutes to hear it. Well 2 minutes passed...then 3......then 4. The silence of my tummy was so unnerving. I kept praying "Lord, let her find it, let her find it." After 5 minutes she still hadn't found it. She told me since she couldn't find it I needed an emergency ultrasound to check on the "viability" of the pregnancy. Let me tell you, those are words I never want to hear again. So she stepped out of the room to get me scheduled and I called Bob. Bob was without a car so he called one of his good buddies Caleb (Thank you so much Caleb!!) for a ride to the imaging clinic. I got to the clinic ahead of him and was waiting patiently to be called back. Bob made it in the nick of time and we were called back. That 50 foot walk felt like a mile! We got in the little room and the technician put her wand on my tummy and within seconds the beautiful profile of our little one appeared on the screen with the little heart fluttering away. Both Bob and I let out a sigh of relief. I cried, after all hormones and stress do NOT mix well. We got to watch our little one and hear the heart beat. Perfectly healthy at 165 beats per minute. While she was measuring and pushing our little miracle started stretching and bouncing and moving. Oh it was the most beautiful thing ever. Bob and I left the room a million pounds lighter and so happy. What an amazing thing to see this precious little one. Two arms, two legs and soooooo cute!

The Lord has blessed us so richly and here are the first beautiful pictures of our little miracle!

This one is the baby waving as it hears the ultra sound.

This is my favorite one as the baby is laying on its side relaxing.

Country Thunder!!!

Well, we just got back from Country Thunder and what an experience, here is the story:

So Bob and I headed out to the podunk City of Florence, Arizona last Thursday. Thankfully, Florence is only about 45 minutes from our house so it wasn't a long drive. The Country Thunder event is held out in a huge open field where you can see for miles. As we pulled up to the area all you could see were RV's and tents. We got our weekend passes and headed to the Starlight Preferred campground. We found Joan and Loren's RV on row GG, parked and started the weekend. We got all of our stuff in the RV and headed to the concert stage. On our way we got a glimpse of the days ahead. I guess Country Thunder is the one place where you can wear shorts no bigger than underwear, teeny-tiny bikini tops, cowboy boots and chaps and no one thinks anything of it. Of course, that was the girls, the guys were even better. How about overalls with no shirt, tatoos and cowboy boots, oh yeah don't forget about the beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other. Yeah, this was the cream of the redneck crop! And here we all were with our modest clothing, bottled water and sunscreen!

We headed into the concert area to find plenty of booths selling stuff you don't need, oodles of food and carnival rides. We couldn't believe it. One of the rides was called the gravitron and it made me want to throw up just watching it. Imagine a huge v structure and cables connecting to a ball that holds people. Basically for $35 you get a slingshot ride while the ball is spinning in all different directions. Yeah...no thanks!

Well the first night we saw Gary Allen and Miranda Lambert. It was awesome, but by 10:30 Baby Longmire and mom were exhausted (so was Justin).

So we headed back to the RV and cozied up in the airconditioning. The nice part was that Bob, Traci and Justin were in the same boat as me and were ready to turn in, so that is just what we did. Joan and Loren stuck it out to the last song! Those younguns!

The next morning Loren made us an awesome breakfast of blueberry pancakes and bacon. So delicious! My nausea has been horrible, but one thing that I have learned is that I have to just eat normal food. Crackers and toast don't really do it for me. Traci, Joan and I took a nice walk through all of the campsites. As you can see, some people go all out for their set up.

After our walk we sat in the RV and chatted for 2 hours. What a blast. All of the concerts started around 1pm so we had all morning to just hang out and visit. At 1 o'clock we headed out to the first concert of Love and Theft. Awesome band, but as you can see, Justin, Joan and I took advantage of the sunshine and took a Country Thunder nap.

Wonderful. If you can believe it, after I slept here I headed back to the RV and took another 2 hour nap. You see sleeping is the only time I feel good so I try to do it often! Later that night we headed out to see Kevin Costner and Keith Urban. It was pretty cool to see Kevin Costner. He was decent, but I did like him better as Robin Hood. After Kevin, Keith Urban put on quite the show.

Everyday Bob and Justin would run our chairs up to the front of the corral area so each night we got front row seats. As the crowd got bigger though, we had to start fighting people off. Boy let me tell you drunk country couples are hard to fight off. They just push and shove until they are all up in your business. By night 2 we figured to rope our chairs off which helped, but we still had to keep our defenses up.

As the weekend continued, it seemed that the smoke got thicker, the beer smelled stronger and the girls lost more clothing. The last day we had another relaxing day in the RV and then headed out to finish the weekend with Willie Nelson and Kid Rock.

As you can see the girls enjoyed margaritas and diet coke while the boys caught some redneck sun!

I absolutely loved Willie Nelson. He is almost 80 years old, but so mellow and easy to listen to. By far he was my favorite!

When Kid Rock came on Traci, Justin, Bob and I headed to the back to get away from the crazy fans pushing their way to the front. By 10 we all decided Kid Rock would sound even better from the RV in our sleeping bags. AHH Delightful!

The next morning we were up and out by 7:30. With everyone leaving we wanted to get out before all of the drunk people got up. Of course we probably could have waited until 11AM and still not had any traffic. Bob and I got home, took showers and napped for the whole day. What partiers we are!

What an experience! Country Thunder 2010!

9 Weeks and Counting!

HAPPY RESURRECTION DAY to all! What a blessing to celebrate today as the day the Lord conquered death! His grace and power are indescribable!

We have made it to the 9 week mark and I officially have hit the throw up point! YEAH! Cross Jamba Juice off of the list!

Here I am, my first sideways pictures documenting our growing little one. I was so excited to take these pictures. I don't know if that is a baby bump or a "I just ate dinner bump." When Bob took the first picture he told me "Don't pooch it out just to look pregnant, we've got to be truthful." Well I readjusted and tried not to pooch anything. I even tried to suck in a bit and this is what we got. I think it is an itty bitty baby bump. What do you think? The second picture was just today. The shirt is a bit baggy, but under that bump my pants are definitely getting a bit snugger...

I kinda look a little scary here. Maybe too close up...I will remember that :)

I was hoping to be able to share with you our first ultrasound picture of our little one on this blog. Sadly, we discovered our silly insurance company will only pay for one ultrasound unless specifically needed by the doctor. Since the doctor thinks all is going well and no problems have been found, she wouldn't deem it "medically necessary" so we had to cancel. Needless to say I was a bit bummed. Seriously, since we started through all of the infertility regimen I have had 5 ultrasounds and the insurance has paid for every one. Bob has even had an ultrasound for Pete's sake! Now that we actually have a little one to see they won't pay up. Ahhh stupid healthcare! Can I get an amen?!!! I even had this great little blog comment about the ultrasound. You know, something to the affect of, "Look, it has my wavy black lines and Bob's lumpy bumps." Oh well. I just keep reminding myself that when we do get the ultrasound we will be able to see actual features and whether or not it is a boy or girl. Only 9 more weeks....

I finished Broker school! Praise the Lord! What a chore that was. Since I am pretty much nauseous all day it was so challenging to have to wake up every morning, go to work for 5 hours and then go to school for 8 more. Seriously, I am still not sure how I managed to push through. Now that the schooling part is over I now have to do my studying so that I can pass 3 exams each 150 questions. Remind me why I wanted to do this again? Now that baby Longmire is on the way, my priorities have changed. Who cares about lease options, zoning laws, RESPA and agency when I have baby clothes, furniture, dr.s appointments and diapers to think on. Seriously! My Uncle Rob bet me that I couldn't score higher than him on all of the exams. Normally my competitive self would jump all over that, but not this time. I just want to pass! (Yep you heard it! The valedictorian just wants to pass).

Bob is still heavy into school. I know it doesn't seem so from the looks of it but he studies non stop. I am so happy he fell asleep even if he does have his programming book in his lap.

I could not be prouder. He works so hard and is constantly doing homework and homework. He just completed his algebra midterm with a 97%! Right now, he is more committed than I am! All I want to do is lay horizontally and read a good book. He is running every other day, going to the gym, working and managing to fit in two college courses. Oh not to mention dishes, laundry and other wifely chores. I keep telling him that "Building a kid is hard work." I feel like I am constantly jet lagged. He smiles, kisses me and tells me how excited he is that I am nauseous and exhausted. He is going to be a great daddy.

This past Friday we had the wonderful privilege of seeing Armando and Ophelia Tijerina. We all miss Armando JR something fierce, but it is so wonderful to see his precious parents. They are such beautiful people and we pray our little one will know them well. Actually, Bob and I were giggling because our little one is going to have so many grandma's and grandpa's that the words are going to be relative terms for anyone older than Mom and Dad. We love it! Its the community that helps raise the kiddo, I firmly believe it. Ophelia was so cute, once she found out I was pregnant she just loved hugging the baby. I loved it to. Baby Longmire is going to be well loved by many. Praise the Lord!
