New Adventures

Well, it has been a bit since I have really sat down and blogged! I am still so sick with this baby and some days it takes all of my energy just to get out of bed in the morning. For the ladies out there who surpassed the all day sickness blues, thank the Lord everyday! I am just about 13 weeks along and definitely starting to show. Here is the latest pictures of Mom and Baby!

And did you see the cool widget that shows our baby countdown? Pretty cool.

Bob and I are so excited because we scheduled the "Find out what it is" ultrasound for June 7th. It is another 5 weeks away, but it will be here soon. The speculation is that we are having a girl. I tend to agree! I think only a girl could give her mother this much sickness drama!! Bob is going to play devil's advocate and side on that we are having a Boy.

His reasoning is that "you never have what you think you are having." I know he thinks it is a girl too, but is just afraid to jinx it! Rocky made it very clear where he sits on the issue!

Sorry Honey! You are outnumbered (at least for now). My parents are going to come down for the ultrasound so it should be a lot of fun and a great memory.

Well, the big news of the month is sad and exciting all at the same time. Looks like Bob and I will be moving to North Carolina this year for Bob's job! I am so excited because the move will allow me to be a stay at home mom at least for a little while. North Carolina is across the country though, so it is going to be a big move with a lot of changes. Bob and I have so much faith in the Lord and in His plan. After conceiving this miracle child, I just trust that God is in control and we are not. Personally, I would rather be in His will than out of it so North Carolina it is. The big issue is that we have to sell our house. Unfortunately, while we are not horribly upside down, our house is worth much less than we paid for it. At this point, I have laid my fleece before the Lord and asked that if we are supposed to go, He will move our house. It is still an area of doubt for me and I find myself daily having to put it in the Lord's hands.

So in preparation for listing our house we finally broke down and put landscaping rock in our backyard.

BEFORE

We have put it off for so long because it is expensive and a LOT of work. Bob ordered 20 tons of landscaping rock and had it delivered to our house. He then called in a few friend favors and had Justin, Caleb and Eric out shoveling rock. For the first day it was just Justin and Bob and boy did they move some rock.

They found this creative system where they shoved rock into buckets and then lifted them into the wheelbarrow together. They were able to move so much more rock instead of shoveling it in one shovel full at a time. I was very impressed. By the end of day 1 they had over half of the yard done. Day 2 brought more help and within 5 hours they had moved the rest of the rock and it was spread in the backyard. Is this not impressive?

AFTER

Rocky Supervised...

And Baby Longmire and Mom made lunches and dinners and handled wifely duties. Shoveling rock was most assuredly not on our to do list!

Later that day, I went to a lovely afternoon tea party with three of my dearest friends, Anna, Traci and Joan.

Joan Olsen is a mentor and a large part of the Young Lives organization. This organization reaches out to underage moms and shares Christ with them as well as offering them emotional support and physical support through diaper donations, clothing donations and other means. I was really amazed at the stories of these young mothers who made the choice to parent their little one in this world that encourages abortions. It was a wonderful afternoon and a great way to be with friends. We spent the afternoon at the Seville Golf and Country Club which is a posh club in Queen Creek. We felt really fancy for a day!

  1. So cute to see that little tummy sticking out there! How exciting. I can certainly understand your trepidation about moving to North Carolina--I know Anna and Caleb will really miss you. We just got back from South Carolina. If it is anything like that, you will be amazed at the beauty and history. We were constantly overwhelmed with the pride of place these people have.

You didn't say when you have to move--I'm assuming you'll still be around at the end of the month when I am down there so I can check out that growing belly for my self.
