Happy Birthday Lily Grace. Today you are 15 years old. And you are astounding. While I have never been one for feeling sad about each year that you grow, I am acutely aware of the fact that you are now growing much quicker than I want you to. I'm here.....and I feel so excited.....and sad....and absolutely stoked to have a soon to be driver in our house.
The jump to high school has transitioned you into full adult mode and sometimes I have to stop and remind myself you are ONLY 15. You love to read, love to write, love to learn, and love to be the teachers pet. Remember when you got that 8/9 in your ELA class and it was the highest grade across all the classes and your teacher Mrs Lancooki hung it up on the board so that everyone could see it? Well, that is today, in this moment. Its just who you are.
You are thriving in your AP class and finding your way in the great sea of kids that is Red Mountain High School. You have joined the pickleball club, are hoping to find a home in Winter Guard this Fall and are looking forward to joining the Color Guard and Marching Band next year. I for one am totally excited about it and CANNOT WAIT to be the annoying Mom in the stands. Its time for Mom's cheer background to shine!
You have weathered a lot of change this year and have done it with more grace than most adults, myself included. Your depth of feeling, character, and heart is felt by anyone who has the privilege to know you.
Each one of the 3 dogs we now have loves you like none other. Especially Sadie here, she has decided that snuggling with you even in your castle bed is the best place to be.
Lily,
Your Dad and I are so very proud of who you are and who you are becoming. The light of Jesus radiates off of you and the heart you have for those around you is truly God-given and cultivated. The world needs more of you my love. As you grow and move into the world just don't go too far. There really isn't enough time with you. You are beautiful inside and out. You radiate light. You are magnetic.
All my love
Mom
