Flat Iron-A Doozy Everytime

So we have decided to take on the challenge of Grand Canyon with Lily this year.  She has wanted to see the river and explore the Canyon a bit so when a group of endurance buddies and their kids made a plan to go.....we hopped on board.

So now its time to train in all of our spare time!

Lily loves Flat Iron, and man, this hike does not disappoint!  It is such a doozy from step one.

But of course, she makes it because, shes amazing and comes from powerhouses on both sides.  The Grand Canyon has nothing on her.

Its also fun to meet random friends on the mountain who are amazed that your 14 year old is crushing it so hard.

Even if that 14 year old was more than ready to be back at the car when we were done!

The Christmas we did all the hiking!

Well we had these grand and glorious plans of skiing for Christmas, but were completely thwarted by Global warming.  No snow meant we were in for a chill Christmas in Vernon.  While super bummed not to ski, chill was just what we all needed!

Lily has become the consumate pie maker in the family and from here to forever will be the pie making queen.  She has earned the title, her pies are amazeballs!

Evie is all about games, barbies, and riding horses.  She stayed busy and had a blast tearing through her gifts on Christmas morning.

Without snow we did LOTS of hiking.  We had such a good time that we convinced Lily to train for Grand Canyon and do Rim to River this spring.  Better get my act together on that one.

We hiked all the way out to this little cabin that is a staple in the mountains.  Fun little spot and Gracie understood the assignment.

Christmas was lovely, full of reading, 5 crowns, puzzles, candy, and so much food.  Rest is a beautiful thing and we came back feeling ready for the new year.
